Neurodiverse voices deserve more than access they deserve their place on the stage.
We are not just talking about Neurodiversity and Neurodivergence academically. We use performance, voice, access, and lived experience to help people truly understand it.
Alternative Voices is a theatre company creating welcoming performance opportunities for neurodiverse people — and helping organisations build more accessible, inclusive spaces through practical training.
We often do projects with Neurodivergent Actors.
This picture is of us recording our Radio Play ‘The Party Animal’ at Switch Radio Birmingham.
The play aired on 6th of April 2020 with a fully Neurodivergent cast.
Since then, we have created an audiobook and develivered online workshops for Actors to develop their skills over summer 2026.

Testimonials
“A place where I can do what I love.” – One of our participants described Alternative Voices as a place where she can enjoy theatre and performing. A place where she can do what she loves.
The reason it was a significant milestone for me is because it was the first performance I had been in AFTER being diagnosed. So, it was my first performance, knowing I was a neurodiverse actor. I got in touch with them through Open Theatre Company, who told me about the auditions. I found the play to be an extremely educational experience, and it helped me understand myself a little more. I have also performed in a radio play and provided narration for an audio book during my time with Alternative Voices.
I find that Madeleine has a very good understanding of how to portray neurodiversity to neurotypical audiences in a way that is thought-provoking yet easy to understand. Alternative Voices is also known for providing neurodiverse individuals the chance to get their voices heard (hence the name).”
