Neurodiverse voices deserve more than access they deserve their place on the stage.
We are not just talking about Neurodiversity and Neurodivergence academically. We use performance, voice, access, and lived experience to help people truly understand it.
Neurodiversity definition: Everyone thinks differently so everyone in the world is Neurodiverse. I think differently to you, you think differently to your neighbour and so on.
Neurodivergent: Individuals who’s brains differ from what is considered typical, often the enrivonment is not designed for us to function as we need to. This includes Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraia, ADD and many more. We often talk about Autism because as a company that is what most of us have so we understand it well. We are not purposely excluding other Neurodivergent conditions. Everyone is welcome here.
Alternative Voices is a theatre company creating welcoming performance opportunities for neurodiverse people and helping organisations build more accessible, inclusive spaces through practical training.
We often do projects with Neurodivergent Actors.
The picture above is of us recording our Radio Play ‘The Party Animal’ at Switch Radio Birmingham.
The play aired on 6th of April 2020 with a fully Neurodivergent cast.
Since then, we have created an audiobook and delivered online workshops for Actors to develop their skills over summer 2026.

Alternative Leadership
Alternative Voices now offers a six-session training package for employers who wish to better support individuals with different learning styles.
Our Six-session programme helps employers understand neurodiversity beyond policy and theory.
We explore practical ways to improve access, communication, spaces and confidence – including neurodiversity audits, quiet and sensory spaces, access riders and inclusive education.
At the end of the training, employers come away with:
- more inclusive workplaces
- fewer avoidable barriers
- better staff understanding
- practical confidence
- improved accessibility
- reduced fear of saying or doing the wrong thing
- better support for neurodivergent employees, customers or audiences.

We want to keep working together, performing and doing our favourite activity which is acting, forever. It gives us a sense of community and is great for our mental well-being.
